Searching for serenity in Bhutan
18. 2. - 2. 3. 2025 (13 day trip)
Bhutan
I’ll start from Kolkata and take a train to Hashimara. It’s an overnight journey. Once I reach Hashimara, I’ll then head to the border town of Phuentsholing by bus or car. It’s just a short ride. Phuentsholing is calm, clean, and organized, a total contrast to the hustle of Indian towns. We can meet at Phuentsholing. In Phuentsholing, we’ll spend some time getting permits sorted (if needed) and exploring. There’s the iconic Bhutan Gate, which is perfect for some initial shots. The marketplace there is vibrant, blending Indian and Bhutanese cultures beautifully. Once the formalities are done, we’ll continue deeper into Bhutan. Along the way, we’ll stop at a few viewpoints to photograph the stunning landscapes. I’m planning to focus on a couple of projects during this trip: Capturing Bhutanese daily life: From street scenes in Phuentsholing to rural villages, we’ll document how people live, work, and interact in this unique part of the world. Spirituality and culture: We’ll visit monasteries and temples to photograph rituals, monks, and Buddhist art. Nature and sustainability: Bhutan is all about living in harmony with nature, so we’ll explore the countryside to showcase that connection. I’ll also keep an eye out for community gatherings or festivals along the way—they’re always so vibrant and offer great stories to tell through the lens. It’s going to be an enriching journey, both for our photography and our experience. The mix of landscapes, culture, and tranquility in Bhutan will be incredible to explore together.
