Christmas and New Years in Budapest and Zagreb

I will be flying from Amman, Jordan on 23rd December to Budapest, Hungary, spend 4 nights there and take a bus to Zagreb, Croatia on 27th. In Zagreb I will stay until the 1st of January then return to Budapest and fly back to Amman. It is basically a Christmas/ New Years trip, and I am open for suggestions on places to go throughout this period.

Places I want to see: Not a very rigid plan. I want to go to thermal springs, Danube river, Xmas market in Budapest, old cafes in Zagreb, And if there is any nearby village that has something to see, I'll be glad to put that on list.
Things I want to do: In Budapest: Going to one of the outdoor hot springs, seeing the xmas market in the city, walking around Danube or cruising the river for wine and music, eating Paprikash in a local restaurant, partying at night. In Zagreb, not very sure but I'll definitely try a lot of cafes there and find a new years party.
